Summary : The remains of a medieval bridge over the River Tyne. The bridge was built post 1248 and destroyed in 1771. The remains consist of two land sandstone arches, part of one is visible whilst the remainder are obscured by later buildings. Scheduled and Listed Grade I.

Old Tyne Bridge
Part of bridge. Medieval and later. Sandstone. 2 land arches, part
of one visible, the remainder obscured by later building; reached
from the cellar of Watergate Buildings. The eastern part has 5 ribs;
the western part, a triple-chamfered arch, has 4 closely-spaced
ribs. A scheduled ancient monument. (5)
