Remains of the tower on the NW face of the wall have been excavated,
revealing its lower courses, 2.0m below the present ground level.

Town wall with Morden, Heber and Ever Towers. Late 13th century
semi-circular tower, it was largely demolished in 1908-10. Granted
to the Company of Paviours, Colliers and Carriers in the 19th
century. Grade 1. (4)
